We need to talk about your complex SaaS features and how they're probably confusing the hell out of your prospects right now.
I've watched way too many smart technical founders absolutely faceplant trying to explain their product. They dive straight into the tech specs while their prospect mentally checks out and starts thinking about tonight’s salmon & avocado toast.
So I wrote out this prompt that's been saving my clients from death by feature list.
YOUR PROMPT, SIR/MA’AM…
FIRST - dump in all your context:
- Feature specs (drop in the nerdy technical details of how it actually works)
- Customer pain points (what specific problems are driving people to look for a solution?)
- Their actual goals (paint me a picture of what success looks like to them)
- Raw VOC data (dump in any sales calls, G2 reviews, support tickets - real customer language)
Then hit it with this prompt structure:
[PAIN POINT LAYER]
• Current frustrations (what specific problems are making their job harder right now?)
• Failed solutions (what have they wasted time and money trying already?)
• Cost of inaction (what breaks if they do nothing about this?)
• Dream state (what does their world look like when this problem is solved?)
[SOLUTION LAYER]
• Core value (tell me exactly what pain this feature kills)
• Real examples (show me this actually working in the real world)
• Quick wins (what immediate value can they get?)
• Integration ease (how fast can they get this up and running?)
[PROOF LAYER]
• Customer stories (give me specific examples of customers crushing it)
• Numbers that matter (show me real metrics that improved)
• Time to value (how quickly did they start seeing results?)
• ROI proof (what's the actual dollars and cents payback?)
Then tell it:
"Rewrite this feature in customer language. Start with their pain, explain the solution simply, highlight specific outcomes, use relatable examples, and sneak in some emotional hooks about saving time/stress/money."
Most technical founders are leaving money on the table explaining their product in a way that makes perfect sense to them... and zero sense to the people who actually buy it.
Customize this prompt however you want and go forth and do some damage.

P.S. Are you a growth stage B2B / SaaS / AI company? I write conversion copy and develop messaging strategy for growth-stage software companies. I work directly with marketing, sales and leadership teams to gather VOC data through customer interviews and internal conversations, then turn that research into high-converting copy for websites, email sequences and case studies.
