Why I’m focusing on Claude and not ChatGPT

"Brooks, Claude is so superior in every way"

I've been hearing this sentiment more frequently as I continue writing about Claude.

After a lot of reflection, I finally understand why:

Interpretability

Claude excels at comprehending input at a deeper level. It grasps intent better than any other AI I've used. Whether analyzing data, responding to complex prompts, or following multi-step instructions, it consistently understands what I'm trying to achieve. This sets it apart.

I'm not claiming it's the best for everyone – if another model works for you, stick with it. But despite the constant stream of new releases (DeepSeek, OpenAI's latest reasoning models, etc.), I consistently return to Claude.

Here's why:

Clarity

Claude communicates with structure and precision, making collaboration effortless.

Context retention

It maintains conversation details better than any other AI I've tested – crucial for in-depth work.

Anthropic's deliberate approach to development

After studying interviews with the Anthropic team, their development philosophy resonates with me. They're proceeding methodically, unlike competitors like OpenAI who are juggling numerous initiatives simultaneously. While this makes sense given market demands, their models don't excel in any single area.

Best for writing, thinking, and research

For professionals in writing, editing, and research like myself, Claude is unmatched. While I can't speak to its coding capabilities, it's superior for language-based work.

Stability and long-term potential

With billions in funding and strong innovation, Anthropic is well-positioned. Even as the AI landscape fragments, I'm confident investing time in Claude rather than chasing every new model.

The AI market itself has been fascinating to work in. Its dynamism has led to increasing collaborations with AI companies (details forthcoming). My earlier prediction about AI becoming the next major copywriting niche is proving accurate.
